Moving at Speed: How Frame Running Changed Everything for Chris Callow
At RMS, we get to witness some pretty incredible transformations. But every now and then, a story comes along that reminds us exactly why we do what we do
Meet Chris Callow.
Chris is 32 years old and lives with an acquired brain injury. Five years ago, if you had told him he would be an English National Champion travelling Europe to compete on the international stage, he might have found it hard to believe. His journey didn't start on a professional running track. It started closer to home, at a local social club sports event where he decided to try out something called Frame Running.
For those who might not be familiar with it, Frame Running is an innovative, fast-paced adaptive sport. It relies on a specially designed three-wheeled frame equipped with a saddle and body support, but no pedals, allowing athletes to use their own feet to build up serious speed. While it functions as a high-speed running event, the frame's clever engineering makes it ideal for individuals who experience balance, hypertonia, or coordination difficulties.
"For me, frame running is an opportunity to move with my own power at speed" Chris Callow

From a Local Social Club to National Champion
What began as a fun trial quickly turned into a passion, and that passion fuelled a competitive fire. The physical and mental health benefits were immediate and massive for Chris, providing both physical strength and a profound sense of freedom. But he didn't just get fitter, he got fast.
At the English National Championships, Chris dominated the track, officially becoming the National Champion for both the 100m and 200m sprints.
Paving the Way for the 2028 Paralympics
Chris’s rise through the ranks comes at a historic moment for the sport. It has just been officially confirmed that Frame Running will feature in the Paralympics for the very first time at the LA 2028 Games. Athletes like Chris aren't just competing, they are pioneers. They are laying the groundwork for a sport that is about to take centre stage on the world's grandest athletic platform.
The Road to Italy with RMS and Ormesa
Chris's success has already opened doors internationally, including opportunities to train and compete on elite tracks in Switzerland. More recently, we had the privilege of taking Chris to Italy for an event organised by our partners, Ormesa, whose Frame Runner has helped introduce thousands of people worldwide to the sport. Recognising his immense talent and dedication, a couple of our directors travelled out with Chris, and even joined in with the activities themselves. The main event was an elite international race, giving Chris a fantastic platform to showcase his skills on the world stage.
Seeing Chris compete on the track in Italy was a proud moment for everyone involved, and a brilliant showcase of what dedication and the right equipment can achieve. With Switzerland and Italy already checked off his list, Chris says there is "hopefully more to come", and looking towards 2028, we certainly wouldn't bet against him.
Watch Chris in Action
Our friends at Ormesa captured the magic of the event in Italy on film. While the video highlights the incredible international race, we wanted to share the personal story behind the athlete you see flying down the track.
We are so proud to support Chris on his journey from a local sports club to international tracks. Check out the video below to watch him do what he does best: moving with his own power, at speed.
